I think a story can be both surreal and absurd, but not everything that is surreal is absurd. Something that is absurd but not surreal is plausible but often improbable. Something that is both absurd and surreal isn’t plausible. Not sure if I can accurately define what is both surreal and absurd rather than just surreal though (beyond the “isn’t that absurd” factor). I know it when I see it.

The cover illustrations on Cat & Mouse by Günter Grass is by the author. He also did the illustration on The Tin Drum and Dog Years.

Yeah, it was impossible to hear any of the conversation in that room. I really liked how Keith broke from performance to interview without interruption, though. It was a nice way to ease back into reality.
